Veritas University, Abuja can be trusted to give the faith touch to its university practices. To the conventional ritual of matriculation or convocation, it has added a thanksgiving Mass to the exit activities of its graduates.
Happy graduates and parents and teachers all over the place
The 2026 version turned the university campus into an arena of festivities (a Mass service, photo sessions upon sessions, eating and what have you, what with parents joining their graduating boy(s) or girl(s) to make it unforgettable.
The event had its own scale of grandeur, if the amount of food and the number of cars are taken as good metrics, particularly of the depth of interest from parents about their undergraduate children. Whether that extends to inspecting their notebooks and conceptual grounding after the second year is a different matter.
As a parent at today’s event observed, the situation now is completely different from his own time. Nobody from his family was at his graduation. All he did was to have a drink all by himself on the day he wrote his last examination. Well, things have changed. Parents have taken over, if the number of parents and the excitement today at Veritas University is generalizable. It will be something else in older universities with larger student population.
Faces of the future!
Today’s event has its own publicity advantage but also its challenge for Veritas University. When the university was granted approval to open a Faculty of Law, it implied a promise to out-compete every other contenders. That is, to produce the best set of law students/lawyers for Nigeria. It has left no one in doubt about that.
Now, its first set of lawyers are out from the school this session. Although they still have to go to the Law School and be called to the Bar, Nigeria may already have set up observatories in anticipation of advocacy fireworks by Veritas University trained lawyers.
One of them is in this picture in which Intervention was caught in. All those in red (and blue too) were part of the Sunday, June 28th Thanksgiving event in the university. They are some of the faces of Veritas University minted software, microbiology and tech game changers of the future. In the picture too are parents and witnesses to fulfillment!
