“Federalism, Diversity and Nation Building in Nigeria” will take the centre stage April 12th, 2018 in Abuja at the inaugural edition of the Annual Distinguished Lecture by the Jos based Institute of Governance and Social Research, (IGSR) and the Jonah Isawa Elaigwu Foundation, (JIEF). The inaugural edition which will be in the form of a symposium has assembled a cross between academia, politics, gender and business to unpack the topic. On that list are Professor Warriso Alli of the University of Jos; Dr. Sara Jibril, a notable female politician in Nigeria; Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Nigerian Vice-President; Chief Ken Imansuagbon, Hon Ghali Na’abba, an ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the incumbent Deputy to the President of the Senate in Nigeria.
The symposium will be coming on the heels of the public presentation of the book, Between The Ballot and The Barrack: Prospects of Enduring Democracy in Africa just authored by the president of the Institute of Governance and Social Research, Prof Jonah Isawa Elaigwu. The book will be reviewed by Prof Jideofor Adibe of the Nasarawa State University and a columnist of the Abuja based Daily Trust at an occasion to be chaired by Sa’ad Abubakar 111, the Sultan of Sokoto. That takes place on April 11th, 2018 also at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja before a 70th birthday dinner for Prof Elaigwu on April 1th, 2018 in Abuja which ends the package of events.
