Dotun Oladipo, the late Publisher of The Eagle Online, was someone never overwhelmed by challenges. This is what the president of the Guild of Online Publishers (GOCOP), Mallam Danlami Nmodu, is saying.
Nmodu who took over presidency of the Guild in 2025 told Intervention that the late publisher always had a way of cracking problems. “He always had a way of cracking it”, said Nmodu who expressed surprise, like everyone else, to hear Dotun succumbed to sudden death.
Reinforcing the late Dotun’s willingness to help out, to be part of the problem solving, Nmodu maintained that nothing was beyond his ability to identify the plausible options towards resolution.
Dotun who always called Nmodu Mni (member of the National Institute), recalled the GOCOP president, responded to challenges with energy, humility and commitment. It was a point Intervention corroborated, citing how the late publisher swung to action to give Intervention wide publicity at birth in 2016 once called to do so by Nmodu, publisher of NewsDiary Online.
Dotun who died August 25th, 2026 is scheduled to be buried on September 11th, 2026. He was 56. Other than being very good at problem solving, he was a key push factor in the emergence of the guild of online publishers, a move which speaks to his institution building inclination. He was its first president, handing over to Maureen Chigbo who handed over to Danlami Nmodu.
