Bingham University on the outskirt of Abuja in Nigeria has set aside March 5th to 8th, 2025 for an international conference on “political instability and the crisis of development in Africa. It will take place on the university campus.
The advertisement for the conference calls it the first. It is dedicated to probing the elusiveness of stability in spite of democratisation. Rather than democracy serving as a calming force, it appears to have exacerbated cultural pluralism and the tendency to resort to violently resolving differences. The conference planners have listed the different themes under which this broader puzzle will be interrogated.
No less than six big names in African politics scholarship have been featured to participate in the conference. As par the existing conference graphic, they are coming from Ghana, South Africa, Australia and The Hague. Prof Gani Yoroms and Prof Pam Dung Sha brings up the major Nigerian component so far.
