Is this the Ene Ede moment? No. Not yet her moment. Her moment is on its way.
This is just the beginning but it is a significant beginning because it is not one of these false events typical across Nigeria.
She has no money or connections to have purchased her inclusion in the Nigerian Women Hall of Fame into which she was inducted July 18th, 2023 when the National Women Centre was renamed after former First Lady, Mrs Maryam Babangida.
She was among the several others, inducted into that list which stretches to Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi and Toun Okewale, Mrs Margreat Ichen, a former Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, the Managing Director of the women-only radio station in Nigeria, amongst others, according to Baobab Rights, a gender sensitive platform from where Intervention got these pictures.
It is an achievement for all the women involved but more so Ene Ede who is the face of the Other on that list. This Hall of Fame move can only be understood as a populist dash from the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. Broadmindedness to recognise the merit of others is a commendable and welcome gesture and Nigerians surely look forward to seeing more of this.
