In this short piece, the president of Idoma Association in the USA/Canada calls for an ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign against police shooting of Nigerians to death for real and imagined infractions. His is just one of numerous voices triggered by the killing yesterday of Mr. Ogar Jumbo Ochigbo of the Civil Defence in Abuja, Nigeria and questioning the culture of casual shooting of citizens to death, about which nothing happens thereafter.
We, the Idoma community in the Diaspora received with shock, the shooting to death of one of our sons, by an officer of the Nigeria Police following an altercation over driving on a one way strip of road to get his children to meet the school morning start time. Late Mr Ogar Jumbo Ochigbo, an Assistant Superintendent of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) does not deserve to die in such a brutal, barbaric and inhuman way and surely not in the presence of his wife and little kids; at such a young and promising age for whatever offence the Police Officer must have thought he committed.

Mohammed Adamu, Police IG
We have heard of how one of the kids pleaded with the policeman not to kill her father; a plea that, of course, fell on deaf ears stuffed with a compulsion to kill.
We decry the unwarranted killing of Nigerians that has become a routine in the hands of our trigger happy security agents and surely must call on the Inspector General of Police to immediately take the necessary steps to bring the culprits to book. Steps must be taken to ensure the proper rehabilitation of the family, particularly the children who will surely be traumatized by this dastardly act for their life time. In this regards, they must be subjected to a proper medical and sociological welfare programme that can mitigate their exposure to this violent experience. We invite all Nigerians to join in the effort to call on the Nigerian Police with a loud cry of Enough is Enough!! Enough of the killing of innocent Nigerians!!
