The International Organisation for the Least Developed Countries (IOLDCs) has appointed Modibbo Adama University, Yola academic, Prof Chris Kwaja as its Senior Advisor for Africa.
“This appointment is made in recognition of your distinguished leadership, expertise, and extensive contributions to peacebuilding, governance, sustainable development, humanitarian affairs, and public policy across Africa”, said the June 15th, 2025 letter of appointment.
Amb Saeed Mokbil, the President of the IOLDCs who signed the letter identified what Prof Kwaja would be doing for it to include providing strategic advice and guidance on IOLDCs’ programs, policies, and initiatives in Africa; supporting the development and implementation of regional partnerships with governments, intergovernmental organizations, development partners, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and the private sector and advising on policy frameworks and advocacy strategies that promote sustainable development and inclusive growth in Least Developed Countries across Africa.
Others are representing IOLDCs at selected regional and international meetings, conferences, and engagements when requested by the Organization; contributing to resource mobilization efforts and the identification of opportunities for strategic collaboration and institutional growth, providing periodic reports and recommendations to the leadership of IOLDCs on emerging issues, opportunities, and challenges affecting Least Developed Countries in Africa as well as interfacing with governmental, non-governmental and multilateral institutions/partners in advancing the interests of the least developed countries of Africa.
“Your wealth of experience and strategic insight will be invaluable in advancing the mission and objectives of IOLDCs throughout the African continent”, the letter added.
Prof Kwaja is joining the IOLDCs on its 30the year anniversary.
