Bingham University in Karu, near Abuja, Nigeria is keeping its promise of being a debating space. Its Ambassador Bulus Lolo Centre for Diplomacy, Conflict, Peace and Plural Studies is up with its annual International Conference, featuring “Climate Change, Insecurity, Terrorism and Crises of Governance in Africa”

Flashback to 2025: Prof Bayo Olukoshi and Bingham University VC, Prof. Haruna Ayuba
In 2025, the topic was on Political Instability and Crisis of Development in Africa. It was most likely the largest gathering of political and other scientists, with prominent South African based Nigerian scholar, Bayo Olukoshi delivering the Keynote Address.
Between April 20th to 23rd, 2026 when this year’s version holds, the Keynote speaker role shifts to Prof Christian Kaunert of the University of New South Wales in Australia while Prof Tijani Bande, former Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations (New York) will serve as the lead paper presenter.
While Prof Haruna Ayuba, Bingham University’s Vice-Chancellor will play the Chief Host, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State will be the Special Guest of Honour.

Masterminds of the conference are inviting academics, experts and other interested resource persons to send abstracts of papers they might want to present at the 3-day fiesta under themes ranging from climate change and insecurity, terrorism and counter-terrorism and governance and security.
The graphic announcing the conference comes along with three telephone numbers potential paper presenters can direct request for further information and these are 08076559395; o8037675664 and 08135255633 as well as the email address pic.da@binghamuni.edu.ng.
Other than the theoretical clashes likely to mark out this particular conference between critical realists, orthodox Marxists and ‘New Materialists’ (who have made the most compelling theoretical push into climate change scholarship over the past decade), there are two Roundtables being organised as part of the conference. One has the title “The Prospects of Non-Alignment and South-South Cooperation” while the second is “Taming the Monsters of Climate Change, Terrorism and Insecurity in Africa”
