Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Chair of the Abuja based Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development and a former Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations says Abubakar Momoh who died last Monday had a history of long dedication to strengthening democracy and democratisation. Professor Gambari said in a condolence message to the family of the deceased as well as staff of The Electoral Institute that this was evident in his participation and support for Savannah Centre’s programmes, especially the post 2015 Elections Conference on “Security and Governance Challenges in Africa’s Largest Democracy” and the launching of the Global Commission Report on “Confronting the Crisis of Global Governance”. He expressed the hope that with time, the happy memories of the late Prof Momoh’s life would overshadow the sense of sadness and pain about it.
