Tinubu: From Renewed Hope to Despair: A Critical Examination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Government, the book at the centre of an evolving controversy, is now to be publicly presented October, 16th, 2026. But, unlike before when the event was to take place at Arewa House in Kaduna, it will now hold at the YarÁdua Center in Abuja, the Federal Capital City.
This followed last moment decision of the management of Arewa House, a research arm of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria cancelling booking for the event. According to a statement made available to Intervention by Prof. Abubakar Siddique Mohammed for the Zaria-based Centre for Democratic Research and Training (CEDDERT) which published the critical text, the book presentation will avail scholars, public intellectuals, policymakers, political actors, members of the media and the wider public an opportunity to engage with the issues raised in the book and reflect on governance, democratic practice and national development in contemporary Nigeria.
The organisers are, therefore, warmly inviting members of the public, the academic community, civil society organisations, political leaders and the media to join them for the occasion.
Intervention is unable to speculate where the disinclination to the book might be coming from between the APC, the Kaduna State Government or The Presidency. It can almost rule out the APC headquarters unless there has been a remarkable shift from the Ganduje era when Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, as APC National Chairman, attended the book presentation of Salihu Lukman’s APC and Transition Politics in 2023. An APC National leader and former governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, was also at the event, all of them seated till the end of the event. They could not have done so because they agreed with everything in the book.
So, who is reprimitivising the party and taking Nigeria far, far back from enlightened disagreement again?
