The World Health Organisation, (WHO) has, at last, declared Coronavirus a global pandemic. It has hitherto refrained from saying so in order not to create panic but it seems the statistics from the USA, France, Italy, Germany and other states left it no choice.
These are some of the most advanced in terms of medical science and technology. Many of them are on lock down or preparing for that, including top universities, especially in the USA.

If Africa is still relatively safe just because its high temperature, especially at this point in time, has turned mother nature’s blessing, then there is no guarantee that this will not be a season of mass migration to Africa. What a reversal of fortune would it be as the pattern of global migration in the post Cold War in particular has been from Africa to the West and Asia.
A situation which no one prepared for might be the reality in a matter of days. That is the many sidedness of globalisation. Can African states cope, with their non-existent biometric emptiness and gara-gara security practices?
These are difficult times with difficult questions to think about as the world comes to grip daily with new security challenges occasioned by globalisation. What it all suggests so far is how the strategy of keeping any part of the world uniquely underdeveloped is of no use to anybody anymore.
The question, in all cases, is how prepared is the typical African State, especially those with huge populations such as Nigeria and Ethiopia?
