The mystery of death deepened this morning in Abuja when friends, neighbours and circle members woke up to the news of the death of 23-year old Samuel Adulugba. Samuel graduated last June in Business Management from Oxford Brookes University in the UK, returned to Nigeria and was awaiting the next batch of NYSC starting shortly.
He died last night at 7. 40 pm at Abuja Clinic but it became news only this morning except for some pastors from the Glory Dome, (Dunamis) who prayed all night in the father’s house at Asokoro after the death.
Samuel had complained of ill-health last week. He was tested and started taking treatment initially for Malaria and Typhoid. This week, he complained again and was then taken to the hospital. He has been on admission since 1.00 a.m on Wednesday but the treatment was being changed to that of Pneumonia.

According to the parents, his last minutes were when he stood up and said he wanted to ease himself. The mother followed him into the gents but both were found in grip of each other, with doctors rushing with all manner of medical interventions. It was too late.
It is a shock for everyone who knew the vibrant chap who though very young when taken to the UK but coped very well and completed his degree without any hitches.
The father, Barrister David Adulugba, told Intervention that the boy has had no history of being sick. Two weeks before his final examinations in the UK, he complained of chest pains and lack of sleep. But he was treated for that and went to take the examinations.
Adulugba senior could not recall buying anything for him beyond anti-malaria along the line. The only complaint he ever lodged and is well remembered by the family was when he fell during a secondary school soccer practice and it never lasted.
The question of what might have happened to this promising young man will be posed for a long time to come, from Abuja where the parents live down to Opialu-Edumoga in Okpokwu LGA of Benue State where the Adulugbas hail from. Is it God’s will, inadequate medical attention, something else or all of the above?
Whatever it was, Intervention could already observe Christian stoicism in the family house where some elders have been heard saying “what can we say?” Intervention also observed Dr Mrs Adulugba, Samuel’s mother to be surprisingly strong.
