Alhaji Shehu Ja’e, the District Head of Badarawa – Malali in a Kaduna State of Nigeria that has become notorious for scorched earth violence along religious lines, is challenging parents to inculcate in people good virtues and the teachings of their religion for a more peaceful and harmonious society. He made the call at the ‘One Family Under God’ sensitization programme being conducted by Global Peace Foundation Nigeria at the Badarawa Primary School in the area. Alhaji Ja’e explained that doing so will reduce the level of ignorance and intolerance of the fact that everyone has the right to belong to any religion of his/her choice. The District Head lamented the high rate of drug addiction and alcoholism amongst the youth which he noted must be speedily addressed by all relevant stakeholders.
Earlier, the Northern Co-coordinators Global Peace Foundation Nigeria, Rev. John Joseph Hayab and Sheikh Halliru Maraya said the ‘One Family Under God’ Campaign is borne out of the conviction that all Humans, irrespective of their race, tribe or religion, are ultimately descendants of Adam and Eve as conveyed in the Holy books (The Quran and The Bible) which translate to members of One Family in the eyes of God. They urged people to watch the kind of words they say about each other and also desist from issues that divide and rather promote what unites them for a more peaceful and harmonious society.
Some of the participants at the programme, Suleiman Adamu Jere, Isreal Ekekere, Jagaba Tanko Ayuba, Saidu Shuaibu and Suleiman Dantoro commended the initiative of the Foundation for embarking on the One Family Under God Campaign and pledged their maximum cooperation through spreading the message to their immediate communities.
