Is it possible that no one and nothing will save Trademore Estate in Lugbe, Abuja in Nigeria from the next and final round of flooding?
Last year, the estate was flooded. A young man was swept away along with many cars and stuff. That did not trigger municipal and/or federal authorities to secure the place. This year, it was flooded again.
So far, it is all warning when action is what should have greeted the earliest signals of vulnerability of flooding there and any other such spaces.
Is it that the resources is not available to secure that and any other estates vulnerable to flooding OR that enough human beings have not been swept away yet or that it is the responsibility of the individual owners of houses in the estate to secure themselves?
What sort of system does Nigeria run that everything can be rationalised?
