The University of Jos is taking it’s turn in a paradoxical rise of certain aspects of the intellectual culture at a time of grave national degeneration and muddle. Until recently, Inaugural Lecture went off completely save in just one or two universities in the country. Now, it is up almost everywhere.
Later this morning, however, it is Prof Julie Orshi who will take up “Social Norms, Values, Male Dominance and Workplace Harassment in Nigerian Organisations: A Paradox” at the University of Jos.
(Sexual) harassment has been a dominant issue in the public sphere in Nigeria. Now, a professor of Psychology is intervening in the matter and the common place analyses that abound about the domain might no longer find any purchase after she is done. But that depends on dissemination of the text of the lecture.
