The People’s Redemption Party, (PRP) is calling on those it calls well-meaning Nigerians to rededicate themselves to task of taking back the country from the grip of inept and ravenous rulers. “We as Nigerian citizens must commit ourselves to the promotion of a united country, a democratic order and a just, prosperous and forward-looking society”, said the PRP in a New Year message in which it says those are the noble ideals to which it is committed. And it is calling on all join it in the pursuit and struggle for their realization.
Titled “Good Bye Suffering, Welcome Hope”, the message was signed by the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Falalu Bello who is congratulating Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora on the impending New Year’s Day for 2021, describing the year 2020 as one of the most difficult years, not only for Nigeria, but the world over. “The COVID-19 pandemic with its associated economic, social and healthcare challenges have indeed been traumatic for all”, said the statement which argues that the challenges were compounded in the case of Nigeria by already existing endemic challenges that have rendered the lives of citizens not only short and painful but veritably brutish.
The excitement of a more clement 2021 could not make for forgetting what the Chairman calls controversial voyage of difficulties and regrets that administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressive Party (APC) piloted the country through since 2015. “It is extremely sad that instead of addressing the challenges that Nigeria faces and charting a more progressive and humane path forward, the APC government has got mired in the blame game. It attributes all its failures either to past administrations or to the political opposition or other voices of dissent”, the statement added.
Insisting on particular mention of the APC administration’s utter failure to address the security challenge, the worsening state of the nation’s economy and the increasing pauperization of the citizenry, the party expresses its belief that Nigerians should hold this failed Administration responsible for all the ills that have befallen them under the inept leadership of the so-called ‘Mr Integrity.’
