He might have worked somewhere else before but it was at The Nation he put a stamp on journalism by, amongst others, effectively combining salesmanship, advertising, editorial, (He was State House reporter, a very sensitive beat anywhere in the world) and managing the newsroom.
That was in the mid 2000s. He worked in such a way that there were no clashes between him and the pioneer Managing Editor of the paper who was then operating from Abuja too.
In all these, he was the archetype of Lagos bred journalist, set on cue, barrier breaking minded in a manner that contrasts with those bred in other journalistic climes across Nigeria. No one recalls him being queried for missing a story, a common disaster point even as he had other beats additional to the Presidency.
From The Nation, he crossed over to the Federal Inland Revenue Service, (FIRS) as information management expert. It is not immediately clear if he had returned to professional journalism before his death.
It is also not clear what killed him but the scanty caption on his picture on Facebook indicated the sad event took place March 13th, 2020 at the National Hospital, Abuja
