Remember Francis Agbiti? The last time he was in the news was over the Naval Ship, ‘African Pride’ in 2005. He had, of course, been in the news as the Nigerian Defence Attache in India about three decades ago. Now, he is coming back for more of the share of the headlines as the subject of a biography.
Titled Agbiti – Admiral, Patriot and a Gentleman, the biography is written by a sociologist and technocrat, Fabian Enenche Owoicho. Owoicho is one of the many students of the late Prof Claude Ake at the University of Port Harcourt. Ake is, arguably, the most grounded in the understanding of the military institution, adding value to even Max Weber in terms of why the military behaves the way it does. What that means is that potential readers of this biography will expect uncommon analytical dexterity.
The invitation to Intervention puts the time of the book presentation at 2pm Thursday, July 11th, 2024 in Abuja. It has top lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun, as Chairman of the event while Agbo Madaki, a Visiting Prof of Law at the Durban University of Technology, (DUT), Durban in South Africa will serve as book reviewer.
