The 40th anniversary of the passage of Mallam Aminu Kano is not without celebration after all, Intervention has learnt. Sources close to the masterminds involved in planning of the anniversary gave the hint
Gov Zulum of Nigeria’s Borno State
According to the unimpeachable source, Prof Nuhu Yaqub, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja is expected to deliver the lecture. But the topic of the event scheduled for May 6th, 2023 could not be confirmed immediately.
And guess what, another professor and incumbent governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum is expected to chair the occasion, sending signals about what the legatees of Mallam Aminu Kano are looking for in terms of leadership. Prof Zulum has attracted positive perception across the board in terms of empathy, corruption free administration and managing diversity. He has not been associated with the Nigerian attitude of explaining away prolificacy and incompetence and neither has he been obsessed with showy or dramatic selfness. Above all, he had adequate intellectual preparation for power but also without making a show of knowing it all.
Depending on the the quality rather than the quantity of publicity the event gets, the resurgence rather than the truncation of the ideals of the late Mallam Aminu Kano tendency may be possible. For now, it is still a waiting game.
