Concerned with growing insecurity, violent extremism, and ethno-religious crisis in Nigeria, the Alumni Association of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (AANI), is intervening with a one day High-Level Conference to discuss Nigeria’s National Unity. The jaw jawing has been scheduled for September 20th, 2022, with the theme, “Nigeria’s National Unity in the buildup to the 2023 General Elections”.
According to a statement to this effect by Brigadier-General Sani Usman Kukasheka, (rtd) and National Publicity Secretary of the AANI, the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja, will be the jaw jawing centre. Professor Yemi Osinbajo, (SAN) (GCON) and Vice President will declare the conference open while General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd), CFR, former Chief of Defence Staff and former Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Peacekeeping, will be the Keynote Speaker.
His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of AANI Heritage Council will be serving as the Royal Father of the day while Mallam Mohammed Musa Bello, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory is the Chief Host. Other prominent Nigerians expected to attend include Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zullum, (FNSE) mni as well as his Jigawa State counterpart, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, (mni). Others are members of the National Assembly, the Federal Executive Council, members of AANI and other Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.
The AANI established in 1979 has been a reservoir and think-tank on public policy in Nigeria. In particular, it is interrogating the circumstances leading to the present national challenges, particularly as the country approach the 2023 General Elections.
