A Nigerian diplomat serving in one of the dominions insists he is entitled to space to express his minds on General Victor Malu who died a few days ago. He is obliged and his is as follows:
I am saddened by the news of General Victor Malu’s death. He remained a disciplined gentleman, fearless and detribalised soldier. General Malu served Nigeria and the international community selflessly. He laid his life by fighting the Liberian war and stopping the senseless killings and bringing peace to that country. I met him in 1990 in an ECOWAS conference in Abuja and we became friends irrespective of my grade as at then. We kept communication till late 2000 when I lost contact. May his gentle and fearless soul rest in perfect peace! I pray God to grant his family and the nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. ADIEU GEN. VICTOR MALU (GENTLEMAN GENERAL)
