It is either President Muhammadu Buhari changed his speech or something fishy is unfolding. A version different from the one he delivered earlier this morning hit the orbit shortly after midnight. A critical discourse of that text did not conform to a Buhari mold. But since anything can happen in politics, it was not trashed. Another version which proved authentic came up much, much later. That is, authentic in the sense that it is what the president read. While the earlier one is very conciliatory, the one that was delivered speaks to authority as far as sanctity of the Nigerian State is concerned.
It is either pacifiers in power scripted that version before the hawks came in. Or, it was cleared before a speech more aggressive in statist position was adopted. There are use of pronouns in the ‘rogue’ speech that do not conform to Buhari style delivery. Surprisingly, the ‘rogue’ speech is still being sent around as at 12 Midday this Monday, even by people who could be described as Buhari supporters. What might be going on?
