Plagiarism can easily occur. Academics who mark essays can detect several categories of it, decided on whether intentional or otherwise. In all cases, it is a very, very serious infraction, frowned at more than many things that the typical Nigerian would fret about. It is still unbelievable that it could happen in The Presidency in Nigeria. But, more than it happening is how it has been managed. Except if this newspaper is behind the news, The Presidency is promising an investigation. What do all these reveal?

- 1.Someone who lack a critical sense of Aso Rock as far as the country called Nigeria is concerned as well as the appropriate moral and intellectual make up to be employed even as a messenger there has found his or her way into Aso Rock as a speech writer or a major influence in that business. That is the only way the plagiarism can have occurred;
- The Presidency does not have or people there do not use any plagiarism bursting machine. Otherwise, Turnitin, for example, would have indicated that the resemblance between the portion of the two speeches in question is too striking to have been ignored;
- This country is not being governed. If it is being governed, there is no way the presidential speech at the launching of a major campaign would not be original thoughts deriving from the overarching paradigm of the government as must have been promoted by the president in particular.
- It is either that a number of persons do not have a clear idea of their job in the first place, are simply not doing their job or the president’s office is not functionally arranged to enable them work. How could the president read a speech without a certain aide there ascertaining it to be free of any and every infractions?
- The president does not seem to worry too much about his image. Otherwise, there should have been a fall guy not later than two hours after the scandal broke. The fall guy might not necessarily be the one who wrote the speech or smuggled the thief’s paragraph but somebody has to be sacked immediately so that the president is protected. That is why such victims are called fall guys. The point is to demonstrate conclusively to the world that the president and The Presidency do not tolerate what has happened. Alternatively, why isn’t anybody dedicated enough to the president to have resigned by now?
