Wedding watchers in Nigeria are holding their breath for a wedding spectacle later this month. It will be between Osadebamwen Winifred Osaghae and Bradly Osarumwense, both United States based medical doctors.
The wedding is scheduled for July 26th, 2025 at the University of Ibadan in Southwest of Nigeria.
The choice of UI by the two US residents may not be unconnected with the university being the base of the bride’s father, Prof Eghosa Osaghae, a product of as well as a professor of Political Science at the University of Ibadan.
Although currently away as Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Ibadan remains the base for both him and Winifred, his second daughter. US born and bred Bradly would most likely use the event to know wife’s base previously.
It is not clear if the NIIA job has made a politician out of Prof Osaghae, it would not be surprising to see many politicians there while the presence of academics, researchers, activists, ‘men of God’, cultural practitioners and diplomats could be taken for granted.
Intervention is imagining the Chapel of Resurrection, the venue of the wedding at the University of Ibadan on the D-Day, the chapel being where Prof Osaghae, a scholar-Deacon, held a crowd – pulling preaching session every Sunday while he was in the university.
