The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Center in Makurdi, Benue State in central Nigeria, Dr Etito Obediah, is spending a full week today in the hands of kidnappers. He was captured around 9 pm on May 13th in Makurdi town along with his driver and an aide.
And the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N25 million, down from the initial N30 million asked for on the head of the former Head boy of Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School in Makurdi town.
The Federal Medical Centre as well as the local and national bodies of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) are all up and doing to get him out but it has not worked so far.
Intervention understands that the Police establishment in the state has been heavily involved to get the alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka off the hook too but it is still a work-in-progress.
