The times are churly. Otherwise, ‘Ojukwu’’s daughter cannot but be everyone’s wedding to attend and participate. That is everyone in terms of Nigeria’s tribe of radical nationalists who took up military dictatorship and imperialism when the rest of Nigerians were still playing innocent citizens on the evils of authoritarianism.
A northerner nicknamed ‘Ojukwu’ in the radical movement because of his beards similar to that of Emeka Ojukwu, the late Biafran rebel leader, he remained the epitome of carrying all along.
It is against this background that he will be in full companionship of many, from far and near, as he moves in the direction of being a shield to family on the occasion of his daughter’s impending wedding. That being the sense in which this is the wedding to watch, not in any vulgar sense of who wore the most expensive dresses but how it speaks to the national project at a time of ‘militant particularisms’
