Both those who would be travelling from far and near to bear witness to this wedding at the St Mary’s Pro Cathedral Church, Otukpo, come April 17th, 2021 and those attending digitally would be bearing witness to a wedding that has a difference. It is in the fusion of what each of the twosome is bringing to the table.
Let’s start with the young wife whose uniqueness is that she can easily win any continental competition for the kindest person around. Christi Ochigbo worries about the other person no end. She would say oh, that person has this problem. What is s/he going to do now? It is the sort of questions that leads her eventually to offering something to help the person(s) she must have just got to know about his or her problems. It has nothing to do with where you come from and whether she knew you from Adams.
It is an uncommon kind heartedness, genuinely so and which should make her a wonder wife too. In any case, a Madam Maria and Mr. Gap Ochigbo’s daughter cannot but be a wonder wife. It is probably rude now to call Christi’s father Gap anymore at his current age but it is doubtful if that larger than life name can ever die. It was the name in his youth. Then it was actually Gapfiller.
As a teacher, they were the real guys in town, unlike nowadays when the politicians have taken over. In those days around his area in Benue State, the teachers, especially those in their club, were the models, the exemplars. It was impossible to contemplate telling them a lie because they will detect it. Gapfiller was one of them and they in that class were a generation younger than the aristocratic generation that preceded them. In that earlier class, the big names would include Alex Onah, Emmanuel Ogwuche, Mr. Odeh, Mr. Udah, Mr. Okoh, James Adoli and a host of them. As the pacesetters in town, they married the model women trained mostly at Holy Rosary College, Adoka and later, Saint Anne’s College, Otukpo or so. This is the case of this parents.
Then the husband, the Lagos based engineer who is bringing good knowledge of the geography of Lagos and, therefore, a key power resource into the union. Lagos is a world in its own class and an experience of Lagos at whatever level is a part of a survival pack in life. This is more so for an engineering graduate with some sea training and engagement. In other words, this young husband is a a product of a rich village but poor people on the one hand and a rich, populous and bustling city on the other hand. It is a combustible combination!
Intervention wishes this marriage the best of God’s blessings, with particular respect to communal responsibility!
