Politicians, we are told, are the same everywhere. Does that hold in all cases? Whether they all are the same or not, there must be variations within them.
In the context of worldwide fears about leadership as well as worldwide retreat to nationalism and the specifically British crisis of managing Brexit, it is worth listening to Britain’s brand new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. He has, in spite of everything, successfully swept off by saying the the sort of things that national leaders say: insisting that success is at the corner, that looking at the opportunities rather than the risks is what is called for and that, both on the short and on the long run, there is something for everyone. Uhm!
