What can voluntary organisations do for community development in the age of globalisation and by which paradigm might such be realised? This is the nut that Nigerian and potential members of the International Association of Community Development, (IACD) will be cracking August 21st to 23rd, 2018 at Babcock University in Ogun State of Nigeria. In a notice calling for papers, the organisers list the sub-themes for critical interrogation as indigenous technology, skills acquisition, microfinance, agricultural intensification, promotion of policy change through sustainable change, rural industrialisation, infrastructure development, energy and power, the co-operative societies, peace as well as international best practices, all of these in relation to community economic development.

IACD reckons with itself on its website as the only global network for those who work in relation to the organisation, education and empowerment of people within their communities. That means being the platform for all those involved as development agency managers, funders, fieldwork practitioners, academics, students or volunteer community activists. Boasting of members across the world, it is also celebratory of its accreditation with the United Nations, (UN).
