It is Dr. Ndayi Amdi and Blessing Eronu that are undergoing the marital rites but under the powerful shadows of the bridegroom’s father, the senior Amdi, a professor of Political Science stretching from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to the University of Abuja and, currently, Veritas University where he is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
As such, this is gonna be a wedding with hefty professorial presence along with that of other layers of academics, faces from the policy mill as well as the cultural and the religious spaces where Prof Amdi has passed through but also that of the parents of the bride. It is known, for instance, that Prof Amdi’s Department and Faculty at Veritas University, Abuja will make a heavy presence at the wedding.
From the invitations available to Intervention, the rites will commence with some form of Gala Night later today, (August 6th, 2021), a Gala Night being a more mature and sober version of the traditional Bachelor’s Eve. This leads to the climax Saturday August 7th, 2021 in the solemnization itself and the whole thing closes with the reception. In other words, this is one marriage that is sure to bring people from diverse backgrounds together again in solidarity with parents of bride and groom, many of them after so many years of departures to new spaces of livelihood, particularly in the case of those coming in solidarity with the Amdis.
