The possibility that Africans are immunized against Covid-19 has suffered yet another major blow as former Ghanaian strongman, Flight Lt Jerry Rawlings has succumbed to it. His death is coming just 10 days after he buried his mother.
There is a bit of paradox to his death as he hosted a delegation of Malian coup leaders mid last September in which he, a coup maker, was playing the role of the problem solver of disruptive military intervention.
The fairy tale status he enjoys is putting to death his predecessors for corruption. To his credit, he relinquished power instead of the temptation to change the constitution and stay on.
Only time will establish his place in history, conclusively.
