Atiku Abubakar, presidential aspirant of Nigeria’s People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), says Nigerians should read the Christmas in terms of its essence and emulate same. He defined the essence in a broad sense of love encompassing love for the country and its unity, love for the men and women under arms fighting to secure the country, the different expressions of insecurity such as those trapped in Libya and the Mediterranean, among others.
Atiku who is almost certain to get the PDP presidential ticket said “Jesus Christ taught that it is more blessed to give than to receive. So this Christmas, spare a thought for what you can give back to Nigeria. We can give our patriotism, our loyalty and our fidelity to the unity of this great nation that has given us so much”
Throwing to Nigerians the responsibility of getting Nigeria to work again at “each and every one of us”, the former Vice-President asking the national audience to be “intentional in thinking good thoughts and sowing even better actions to make Nigeria greater today and for all times”.
Although a message of felicitation with Nigerians in general and Christians in particular, Atiku’s Christmas message embody arrows aimed at the ruling APC where he implied, for example, that Nigeria at the moment is not functioning.
